Across the southern states of India, people celebrate Ugadi, the Telugu New Year, by sending excited messages and wishes to their loved ones via social media and messaging apps.
Major celebrations of Ugadi, also called Gudi Padwa in Maharashtra, are observed with great zeal in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, and parts of Tamil Nadu. According to the Hindu lunar calendar, it is the start of a new year.
