Carrara Oval, Queensland (Nov 6, 2025): Team India delivered a commanding performance in the fourth T20I of the five-match series, bundling out Australia for a mere 119 runs to register a massive 48-run victory. With this win, India has taken a 2-1 lead in the series, leaving the hosts under pressure ahead of the final clash.
India Set a Target of 168 with a Collective Batting Effort
After being invited to bat first by Australian skipper Mitchell Marsh, India posted 167/8 in their 20 overs.
Shubman Gill led from the front with a composed knock of 46 runs, while Axar Patel (21 off 11) and Shivam Dube (25 off 16) played vital cameos down the order.
Captain Suryakumar Yadav contributed a quickfire 20 off 10 balls, showcasing his trademark aggression in the middle overs.
Australia’s Nathan Ellis was the standout bowler, picking up 3 wickets for 21 runs, while Adam Zampa grabbed two crucial dismissals to keep India in check during the death overs.
Australia collapsed from 91/3 to 119 All Out
Chasing 168, Australia began on a confident note, reaching 77/3 after 10 overs with skipper Mitchell Marsh (36) looking in good touch. However, what followed was a spectacular collapse.
The hosts lost seven wickets for just 28 runs, as India’s bowlers turned the game around in grand style.
Axar Patel struck early to dismiss the dangerous Matt Short, setting the tone for the innings.
Shivam Dube and Washington Sundar further tightened the noose, sharing five wickets between them.
Sundar, in particular, stole the show late in the innings, grabbing three wickets in his first over and narrowly missing a hat-trick.
Jasprit Bumrah bowled economically as usual, cleaning up the tail with a fiery yorker to seal the win.
Australia were ultimately bowled out for 119 in 18.2 overs, marking one of their most disappointing chases at home.
Axar Patel Named Player of the Match
All-rounder Axar Patel was rightly adjudged the Player of the Match for his all-round brilliance.
His quick-fire cameo at the end of India’s innings provided crucial momentum, and his bowling spell of 2/20 in four overs broke Australia’s rhythm early on.
“This is what I train for — to contribute in both departments. The wicket was gripping a bit, and I tried to keep it simple,”
Axar said post-match
Team Effort Seals the Win for India
From Abhishek Sharma’s fiery start to Gill’s stability, Suryakumar Yadav’s sharp captaincy, and the bowlers’ clinical execution, it was a true team performance.
India’s fielding and DRS decisions were also spot-on, reflecting the tactical sharpness of their leadership group.
With this emphatic win, India have now won their seventh consecutive bilateral T20I series and ensured they won’t lose this one either — regardless of the result in the final match.
Series Now at 2-1: All Eyes on the Final T20I
The series now heads to The Gabba, Brisbane, where the fifth and final T20I will be played on November 8, 2025.
While India will aim to seal the series 3-1, Australia will be eager to level things up in front of their home crowd.
