February 18, 2024 : Acharya Vidyasagar Maharaj, a globally respected Jain spiritual leader, breathed his last on Saturday night atop Chandragiri Hill in Dongargarh, located in the Rajnandgaon district. The revered Acharya had been ailing for a few days prior to his demise. He took his final breath at around 2:30 am amidst the serene surroundings of Chandragiri. Leaders from various spheres, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, expressed their condolences over his passing.

Birth and Contributions

Born on Sharad Purnima, October 10, 1946, in Sadalga village, Karnataka, Acharya Vidyasagar Maharaj hailed from a family deeply rooted in spiritual traditions. His parents, Shrimati and Mallapa, also embraced the path of renunciation. He conducted over 500 initiation ceremonies, demonstrating his commitment to spreading spiritual wisdom. Notably, on February 11, he was honored by the Guinness World Records as a celestial being.
