Parivartini Ekadashi 2025: Date, Shubh Muhurat, Puja Vidhi & Vrat Parana Time

Share

Parivartini Ekadashi is observed on the eleventh day (Ekadashi) of the Shukla Paksha in the Bhadrapada month. According to Hindu belief, on this day, Lord Vishnu changes his posture while in Yog Nidra (cosmic sleep), which is why it is called Parivartini (meaning ‘the one who turns’). In some regions, it is also known as Padma Ekadashi or Jaljhulni Ekadashi.

This day is considered highly auspicious for worshipping Lord Vishnu and seeking his divine blessings. It is believed that observing this vrat grants freedom from sins, success in business, removal of marriage obstacles, prosperity, and ultimately moksha (liberation). Performing charity, such as donating umbrellas, curd, footwear, and a water-filled pot, is considered very beneficial.

Significance of Parivartini Ekadashi

Hindu scriptures state that performing good deeds and worship on this day leads to spiritual upliftment and divine blessings. People believe that Lord Vishnu blesses devotees with happiness, wealth, and peace when they observe this vrat with devotion.

Puja Vidhi (Rituals for Parivartini Ekadashi)

  1. Prepare the Puja Space: Clean the puja area and spread a red cloth on a clean platform (Chauki).
  2. Install Lord Vishnu’s Idol: Place an idol or image of Lord Vishnu on the cloth and adorn him with yellow clothes.
  3. Offerings: Present yellow flowers, fruits, and Chandan. Offer Tulsi (holy basil) leaves and sweets.
  4. Bhog (Prasad): Prepare panchamrit, halwa, or dhaniya panjiri as offerings. Always include Tulsi leaves in the prasad.
  5. Lighting the Lamp: Light a ghee lamp and incense sticks.
  6. Read the Vrat Katha: Recite the story of Parivartini Ekadashi and sing Lord Vishnu’s chalisa (hymn).
  7. Aarti: Conclude the puja by performing aarti and praying for peace and prosperity in the family.
  8. Next Day: On the following day after the Parana, donate food and essentials to the needy.

Parivartini Ekadashi is not a religious ritual but also a spiritual opportunity to strengthen devotion and embrace charity. Observing it with faith brings the blessings of Lord Vishnu and paves the way for harmony and happiness.
