According to ancient scriptures, there was a cruel king named Mahidhwaj who exiled his son Lumpaka due to misunderstandings. Lumpaka lived a life of hardship in the forests. One year, unknowingly, he observed Safala Ekadashi by fasting and staying awake through the night, offering fallen fruits to Lord Vishnu.
