Vat Savitri Vrat is celebrated on the new moon day (Amavasya) of Jyeshtha month. At some places, women observe a fast on this day, while in other areas, only the tree is worshipped. This time Amavasya Tithi is starting from 26th May, so Vat Savitri Vrat will be observed on this day. It is said that just as the Vat tree is considered a symbol of immortality and longevity, similarly, the life of their husband should also be long.

On this day, Savitri had taken back her husband’s life from Yamraj under this tree. Through this fast, women pray for the happiness and prosperity of their married life and the long life of their husband.

According to the Vedic calendar, the Amavasya date of Jyeshtha month will start at 12:11 am on 26 May and the date will end at 08:31 am on the next day i.e. 27 May. In such a situation, Vat Savitri Vrat will be observed on 26 May.

Tithi starts: Starting from 10.55 am on 26 May. Its Puja Muhurta is from 8.52 am to 11.35 am on 26 May.

Somvati Amavasya will be celebrated on the same day.

Puja Samagri in Vat Savitri Vrat:

Raw thread is (Kaccha Sut) is a must for the worship of Vat Savitri Vrat. It has to be tied while doing Parikrama, and then this thread has to be worn around the neck. Apart from this, baas ka pankha (handfan) soaked (Chana) gram, Til (sesame), Puri halwa, Sweets (gulgula), Hawan Samagri, (Solah Shringar) sixteen makeup items will also be needed. Without these materials, Vat Savitri Vrat is considered incomplete. Sindoor, sacred thread, betel nut, rice (Akshat), Ganga water (Ganga Jal), black sesame seeds, mango leaves, fan, lamp (Diya), flower garland, and Turmeric (Haldi) in it. First of all, after worshipping the square, you can worship a branch of the Banyan tree by placing it in a plant. This has to be worshipped by considering it as the Banyan tree. To offer to God, seasonal fruits like melon or mango will be needed.
