Puja Samagri for Kalash Sthapana
To perform the ritual correctly, gather the following items:
- Jowar
- A copper or earthen Kalash (pot)
- Gangajal (holy water)
- Supari (betel nut), Mouli (sacred thread), Roli (kumkum)
- A coconut wrapped in red cloth.
- Mango leaves (Panch Pallav)
- A clay or earthen pot with soil from a sacred place
- Akhand jyoti diya, cotton wicks, ghee or oil
- Red thread and a coin
- Fresh flowers and garlands
- Cardamom, cloves, and camphor
- Akshat (rice grains), turmeric, and sandalwood paste
Kalash Sthapana Vidhi
- Purification: Wake up early, take a holy bath, and clean the puja area thoroughly. Ideally, perform the ritual in the north or northeast corner of your home.
- Prepare the Kalash:
- Fill the Kalash with clean water. Add flowers, coins, betel nut, and akshat (rice).
- Tie a sacred thread (kalawa) around its neck and draw a Swastik with roli.
- Place mango leaves on the Kalash and position a coconut wrapped in red cloth on top.
- Set Up the Base: Place the Kalash on a small platform filled with soil. Sow jao seeds around it, which symbolize growth and prosperity.
- Invoke the Deities: Light a ghee lamp and incense sticks. Recite prayers to invite Goddess Durga, Lord Varun, the Dikpalas, and other deities into the Kalash.
- Godess Durga loves red flowers, so offer laal gulhar ka phool (red hibiscus flower) and Aparajita flower.
