In a high scoring encounter which turned into a rather one-sided chase thanks to a phenomenal blitzkrieg from Will Jacks, who scored 100 off 41, with the final 46 runs coming off just 10 balls to lead RCB to a video game chase of 200 in just 16 overs.

GT’s Sai Sudarshan and Shahrukh Khan played brilliant knocks to guide GT to a 200/3 after 20 overs and Gujarat were all set for a comfortable victory.

However RCB’s openers Kohli and du plessis provided them with a blazing start and an ineffably sensational blitzkrieg innings from Will Jacks helped RCB completely steamroll GT.

Captain Shubman Gill’s persistence with Mohit Sharma has proved to be detrimental for the team as he has been very expensive with his economy rates only spiking per game. He should consider dropping him for now and including Sandeep Warrier in the playing XI instead of using him as an impact sub, with Kane Williamson being the impact substitute of Warrier or reverse, depending on whether GT bat or bowl first per match. Williamson has class as a batsman and his immaculate leadership skills and experience can also help the team and Gill can learn a lot from him and manage the team well. Shubman Gill, however has another setback, which is his lack of form, which he needs to regain to stay in the selectors’ radar for the upcoming T20 World Cup.

GT are now in a dismal position in the points table with two consecutive losses whereas RCB despite having low chances of qualifying for the play-offs are still putting up a good fight for the top 4 spots. RCB have to win all their remaining matches and hope that other results favour them,in order to qualify. Meanwhile, GT too would be aiming to avoid another loss at any cost to reach and stay in the Top 4.
