What your marksheet will contain

Passing criteria — what you need to clear
Students must secure a minimum of 33% marks in each subject as well as in the overall aggregate to be declared a pass. The Jharkhand Board also operates a grace mark policy: if a student fails a single subject by less than 6%, or two subjects by less than 3% each, grace marks may be applied to help them clear.
Year-on-year performance trend
Looking at JAC Class 10 results over the past five years, the pass percentage has shown a broadly strong trajectory, recovering significantly after 2020.
2020 – 75.88%
2021 – 95.90%
2022 – 95.71%
2024 – 90.39%
2025 – 91.71%
In 2025, girls outperformed boys, with a female pass percentage of 91% compared to 89.70% for boys. Approximately 2.10 lakh girls and 1.84 lakh boys cleared the exams, continuing a consistent trend of strong female academic performance in Jharkhand.
2025 toppers — a benchmark for 2026
Last year’s topper, Gitanjali, achieved an outstanding 98.6% to claim the top rank in the state. The merit list featured 62 students in the top 10, underlining how competitive the Jharkhand board examinations have become. Kodarma emerged as the top-performing district in 2025 with a pass percentage of 97.83%, while West Singhbhum recorded the lowest pass rate among all districts. Topper details for 2026 are expected to be released shortly on the official JAC website.
If you are not satisfied with your result
Students who believe their marks do not reflect their performance have two options. First, they can apply for scrutiny or re-evaluation — the application window is expected to open 10 to 15 days after the result declaration. Second, students who fail in one or two subjects are eligible to appear for the JAC compartmental examination, expected to be held in July 2026. The revised result after scrutiny is expected to be released in June 2026, and the compartment result is expected in August 2026.
Students who fail in more than two subjects will not be eligible for the compartment exam and may have to repeat the academic year. Collect your original marksheet from your school within one to two days of the result — it is essential for Class 11 admission.
What comAAes next — after the result
Students who clear the JAC Class 10 exam will move to Class 11, where they must choose a stream — Science, Commerce, or Arts — based on their interests and board performance. Those aiming for Science or Commerce streams at top colleges should note that admissions often have cut-offs based on aggregate marks.
Students who are unable to clear the examination can use the compartment exam as an opportunity to avoid losing an academic year entirely.
