Significance of Devuthani Ekadashi

Devuthani Ekadashi is a highly revered day in Hinduism as it marks the end of Lord Vishnu’s four-month-long rest. With Lord Vishnu’s awakening, the period known as Chaturmas concludes, and it is an auspicious time for initiating auspicious activities. Devuthani Ekadashi is also known as Dev Prabodhini Ekadashi, and many devotees fast on this day to seek blessings from Lord Vishnu.

Devuthani Ekadashi Puja Vidhi (Worship Method)

  1. Start the day with a bath and wear clean clothes. Clean the house and the puja space.
  2. Draw the shape of Lord Vishnu’s feet at the altar.
  3. Place fruits, sweets, plums, and water chestnuts near the representation of Lord Vishnu’s feet. Add sugarcane as part of the offerings and cover the feet shape with a basket.
  4. Deep Pradan karein (Light a lamp) outside the house and at the altar for evening prayers.
  5. Gather the family and offer prayers to all deities, focusing on Lord Vishnu.
  6. Conclude the puja by sounding conches and bells to symbolize awakening. Sing devotional songs to celebrate Lord Vishnu’s awakening.
