Erode MP Ganesamoorthy took his last breath at a private hospital in Coimbatore city on 28th March 2024. It is confirmed that he had attempted suicide by consuming pesticides. He took the extreme step after he was denied a ticket to contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections by the MDMK party.

He was declared dead at 5:05 AM by the doctors at Kovau Medical Centre and Hospital (KMCH). Right after, the body was sent to the government hospital at Perundurai in Erode for postmortem. After the postmortem, his body was handed over to his family. MDMK general secretary Vaiko and party leaders visited his house this afternoon.

Being one of the senior leaders in MDMK, he contested for the Erode parliamentary constituency on DMK’s rising sun symbol in the 2019 general elections and won. The party snubbed him for the upcoming polls making him go into severe depression.

MDMK general secretary

Vaiko visited Ganesamoorthy at the hospital in Coimbatore city on Sunday night. What he told the reporters was shocking, “When our party functionaries suggested Durai Vaiko’s name for the parliamentary election, I did not accept it. So we conducted a poll and 99% wanted Durai Vaiko and Ganesamoorthy to contest in the elections. We planned to field him in the upcoming assembly elections if he couldn’t be fielded in the LS polls. However, he has taken an extreme step.”
