Ekadashi is a day devoted to Lord Vishnu. There are two Ekadashi in a month: Shukla Pakṣa and Kṛṣṇa Pakṣa. In several regions of India, there are numerous names associated with Ekadashi. The main goal of the Ekadashi fast in Hinduism is to master the mind and the body’s sensations and direct them towards spiritual advancement. Ekadashi which come on Vaisakh Shukla Paksha is called Mohini Ekadashi. It is a special day dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Mohini Avatar is the only woman avatar of Lord Vishnu, which is the result of Samundra Manthan. Mohini is a beautiful lady who mesmerized both Dev and Ashur. Tithi, Vidhi, Puja Mahurat and Katha of Mohini Ekadashi

According to the Hindu Panchang, Vaishakh Shukla Paksha Ekadashi Tithi will start on May 18 at 11:22 AM.

Ekadashi Tithi will end on May 19, 2024 at 1:50 PM.

According to Udaya Tithi, the Mohini Ekadashi fast will be observed on 19 May 2024.

The Shubh Mahurat for the worship of Mohini Ekadashi will be from 7:10 am to 12:18 pm on May 19.

Importance of Mohini Ekadashi

According to religious beliefs, during Samundra Manthan there was a dispute between the Devtas and Ashura for Amrit. Then on the Ekadashi of Vaishakh Shukla Paksha, Lord Vishnu took the form of a woman named Mohini Avatar. Lord Vishnu in the form of Mohini had charmed the demons and took the pot full of Amrit from them and handed it over to the Gods, after drinking which all the Gods became immortal. It is said that since then the Ekadashi of Vaishakh Shukla Paksha came to be known as Mohini Ekadashi.

  1. Yellow Mustard, Mehndi, Coconut, Gola, Panchpallav, Bandanwar.
  2. Flower garland, flowers-rose petals, Doob, Aam patra, and Toran.
  3. Paan Patta, Betel nut, Cotton, Ganges Jal, Agnihotra Ashes.
  4. Kusha, Tulsi, Roli, Mauli, Incense Sticks, Saffron, Camphor.
  5. Raw cotton, Moong dal, Urad Kale, Bilvapatra.
  6. Red-white clothes.
  7. Abeer (gulal), Akshat, Rose Water, Paddy Slag.
  8. Chowki, bell, Kalash, Ganga Sagar,Bowl, Plate, Bucket for Navgraha.
  9. Havan material – take Yagya vessel and Samidha etc.
  10. throne, umbrella, Akshat, Barley, ghee, matches etc.
  11. Perfume, Mirror, Cardamom, Panjmeva, Turmeric.
  12. Sindoor, Sndalwood, Peda, Batasha, season fruit, banana in prasad.
