Jai Mata di! Happy Chaitra Navratri day 4 to all of you! In continuation of our 9 days of Navratri series, here we are with Navratri day 4 Puja Vidhi and Mantras.

On Navratri day 4, Maa Kushmanda is worshipped as the fourth incarnation of Maa Durga. She is the goddess of happiness, health and wealth. Let’s know how to worship Maa Kushmanda on Navratri day 4 and what is the right Puja Vidhi, mantras, lucky color to wear and what to offer for prashad.

Maa Kushmanda’s name is the combination of three words- ‘ku’ means ‘little’, ‘ushma’ means ‘warmth’ and ‘Anda’ means egg of the Cosmos. According to ancient scriptures, it is Maa Kushmanda’s little smile full of warmth which created the Universe.

Maa Kushmanda is also known as Maa Ashtabhuja because of her eight hands. She is the only goddess who has the power to live inside the Sun which is the source of her ‘Ushma’. That is why, her face and body is always glowing and radiating the warmth of the Sun.

In fact, it is Maa Kushmanda who is known to provide energy and direction to the Sun, which is why Maa Kushmanda governs Surya Dev ( Lord of Sun).

In the right hand, Maa Kushmanda is carrying the Dhanush, Kamandal, kamal and bada. And, in the left hand, she carries the Jap Mala, Gada, Chakra and Amrit Kalash. Maa Kushmanda loves red colored flowers and showers blessings of health, wealth and happiness on her devotees.

Maa Kushmanda loves red color. So, the Navratri day 4 color is red.

  • Offer red colored flowers, red bangles and red dupatta to Maa Kushmanda;
  • Mix organic haldi, or ‘haldi ki gaanth‘ in the water for Puja and give ‘argh’ to Surya dev;
  • Offer red colored fruit, or Maalpua as prashad;
  • Recite the above mantras 11 times and then, tell Mata Rani your wish;
  • Pray to Maa Kushmanda for your family’s and children’s good health, joy and wealth;
  • Lastly, complete your Navratri day 4 puja by reciting Maa Kushmanda aarti given below.
