Gurugram, India – January 5, 2024 : In a shocking turn of events, Divya Pahuja, a former model and accused in the murder case of gangster Sandeep Gadoli, was shot dead in a hotel in Gurugram on Tuesday night. The incident occurred months after her release on bail. Three individuals have been apprehended by the Haryana police, with a search underway for two others involved in the crime. Additionally, efforts are being made to locate Divya’s body, reportedly disposed of by the accused.
Who was Divya Pahuja?
Divya, 27, hailed from Gurugram’s Baldev Nagar, the daughter of a differently-abled vegetable and fruit seller. She had one younger sister, and her journey took a turn when she dropped out of a B.Com course in 2018 to pursue modeling. Divya’s association with the criminal underworld began at the age of 18 when she became the girlfriend of Sandeep Gadoli, Gurugram’s most-wanted gangster.
Gadoli met his demise in a controversial encounter with Haryana Police in a Mumbai hotel in 2016. The subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Divya, her mother, and five policemen for allegedly disclosing Gadoli’s whereabouts.
Divya’s connection with the underworld unfolded when Binder Gujjar, a rival gang leader, conspired with Haryana Police officials to eliminate Gadoli. Gujjar enlisted the help of his brother Manoj and roped in Divya as a part of the plan. In a staged encounter on February 7, 2016, Gadoli was lured into a trap with Divya’s assistance and killed, according to Mumbai Police.
After spending seven years in jail, Divya was granted bail by the Bombay High Court in June 2023, citing prolonged incarceration and the anticipation of a lengthy trial.
Divya’s Connection with Sandeep Gadoli
Sandeep Gadoli, a notorious gangster from Gurugram, faced charges in multiple murder cases over two decades. At the time of his death in 2016, he had 36 cases registered against him and carried a cash reward of Rs 1.25 lakh on his head. Gadoli was also accused of killing municipal councillor Binder Gujjar’s driver in October 2015.
Following Gadoli’s demise, his family alleged that Divya was not his girlfriend but was passing information about him to her mother, Sonia, who then shared it with Gurugram Police and Gujjar.
During the investigation, Divya claimed that Gadoli was not her boyfriend and had been introduced to her as Rishabh by one Manish Khurana. She asserted that she went on a trip to Goa with him based on promises of receiving a flat in Gurgaon.
The recent tragedy of Divya Pahuja’s death adds another chapter to the complex narrative surrounding the underworld connections in Gurugram, leaving the authorities in pursuit of justice.
