January 30, 2024 : The 37-year-old, known for his nine-season stint with the Boston Celtics during his 16-year NBA career, was arrested on Sunday afternoon in Jackson County, Indiana, following a routine traffic stop on Interstate 65.
Upon pulling Rondo over, the Indiana State Police officer reportedly detected the scent of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. Subsequent searches led to the discovery of a firearm, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. Notably, Rondo’s possession of a firearm is in violation of an existing protection order against him.
Despite the severity of the charges, all offenses against the former NBA champion are categorized as misdemeanors. Following his arrest, Rondo was promptly booked into Jackson County Jail but was subsequently released after posting bond.
This isn’t the first time Rondo has found himself entangled with the law. In 2022, a Louisville woman sought an emergency protective order against him, alleging threats to her life. Although the order was dismissed a year later, it followed Rondo’s completion of anger management classes, counseling, and a mental health evaluation.
In a similar incident last March, the same woman initiated another emergency protective order against Rondo, with the case concluding in an agreed order after five months.
Rondo’s legal issues add another chapter to his off-court challenges, raising questions about the former Celtics star’s personal life and legal history. As the situation unfolds, NBA fans and followers await further developments regarding Rondo’s legal proceedings in Indiana.
