In a new turn of events, Delhi Minister Raj Kumar Anand announced his resignation from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as well as from the cabinet after CM Arvind Kejriwal was arrested for his alleged link in the liquor policy scam case. He cited the reason as immense underlying corruption within the party which made it impossible to continue:
“I have handled seven portfolios as a minister in the Delhi government. The Aam Admi Party (AAP), which was born after a fight against corruption is now neck deep into corruption.”
The ex-AAP minister also stated improper representation of Dalits and their mistreatment within AAP as another major reason why he couldn’t continue working for the Aam Aadmi Party. He claims to be a staunch advocate of marginalized communities.
Ploy against party says top AAP official
In yet another revelation, a prominent figure from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Sanjay Singh, has made serious accusations against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), India’s main opposition party. Singh has boldly claimed that the BJP orchestrated the departure of Raaj Kumar Anand from their ranks.
“Anand was earlier called corrupt by the BJP but now he will join the same party…”
According to Singh, the BJP’s alleged strategy involved leveraging government agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to pressure AAP members, marking a concerning turn in the political landscape. These accusations have ignited a fierce debate, casting a shadow over the integrity of political processes and raising questions about the use of state apparatus for partisan gains.
Last year in November 2023, The ED also searched Anand’s house for the same liquor policy scam case. Raj Kumar Anand who originally hails from the Patel Nagar Constituency, is the first minister to leave AAP after their alleged misconduct in imports for customs evasions of over ₹7 crore.
This unfolding saga underscores the deepening rifts within Indian politics and raises serious concerns about the integrity of political processes. The shadow of corruption allegations looms large, casting a cloud over the future direction of both AAP and BJP.
