Mumbai, 3 Jan, 2024 – The childhood home of fugitive terrorist Dawood Ibrahim is set to be auctioned in Mumbai on Friday. The auction, conducted by the competent authority and administrator of the Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture of Property) Act (Safema) under the Union Ministry of Finance, involves four agricultural properties located in Khed’s Mumbake village.

Dawood Ibrahim and his siblings spent part of their childhood in these properties, which are now in the name of Dawood’s mother, Amina Bi. Over the past nine years, Safema authorities have already auctioned 11 properties linked to Dawood or his kin.

The upcoming auction features four properties with a combined reserve price of Rs 19.2 lakh. The first property spans 10,420.5 sq m with a reserve price of Rs 9.4 lakh, the second covers 8,953 sq m with a reserve price of Rs 8 lakh, the third is approximately 171 sq m with a reserve price of Rs 15,440, and the fourth property has an area of 1,730 sq m with a reserve price of Rs 1.5 lakh.

The auction will be conducted through e-auction, public auction, and tender in a sealed envelope simultaneously, supervised by the Safema competent authority. The properties, confiscated years ago, will be sold on an ‘as is where is’ and ‘as is what is’ basis. The successful bidder will be responsible for the property transfer in their name.

Bidders are required to submit a separate earnest money deposit for each auction mode, and the deadline for the submission of the ‘participation form’ is January 3, Wednesday, until 4 pm.

This auction follows the trend of Safema authorities actively seizing and auctioning properties related to Dawood Ibrahim and his associates. Notably, recent rumors about Dawood being poisoned in Pakistan were refuted by his close aide, Chhota Shakeel. The focus now shifts to the auction, providing potential buyers with a unique opportunity to acquire a piece of Dawood Ibrahim’s childhood history.
