The ‘Surya Tilak’ News on Ram Lalla: On Wednesday, April 17, in honour of Ram Navami, the forehead of the Lord Ram Lalla idol at the Ayodhya Temple was lighted by the sun’s beams, or “Surya Tilak.” The intricate system of mirrors and lenses let the god wear his “Surya tilak.” The scientists tested the system on Tuesday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Ram idol at the Ayodhya temple on January 22, marking the first Ram Navami.

What Did The Scientists Have To Say?

The planned tilak size is 58 mm, according to a senior scientist at the Central Building Research Institute (CBRI), Roorkee, a division of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).

According to him, the precise duration of the forehead-center tilak was between three to three and a half minutes, during which there were two minutes of total illumination.

PM Modi’s appeal during ‘Surya Tilak’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his election rally in Nalbari, Assam, mentioned the momentous occasion even as Ram Lalla was about to be anointed with the Surya Tilak.

Amidst all the chanting of “Jai Siyavar Ram”, the PM said, “Today is the historic occasion of Ram Navami. After waiting for 500 years, Lord Ram has been seated in his grand temple. Now after a few minutes, by applying Surya Tilak to Lord Ram, his birth anniversary will be celebrated in the holy city of Ayodhya, in the Ram Temple.”

The Ram Janmabhoomi Temple

Following the wonderful pran pratishtha ceremony, the Ram Janmabhoomi is seeing an incredible celebration for the second time. At Ram Mandir, 56 varieties of bhog, prasad, and panjiri are being offered as part of the grand celebration of Ram Navami.

The chief priest of the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, Acharya Satyendra Das, stated that all the arrangements for the celebration are being managed by the Trust and the occasion of Ram Navami is being celebrated with great enthusiasm.

The idol of Lord Ram has been specially dressed for the day, and everything has been decorated accordingly. The chief priest said, “He is dressed in yellow clothes, and after this he is bathed with Panchamrit. Four-five types of panjiris are made and along with that, 56 types of offerings are made to the Lord.”

On its official X handle, the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra, a trust established to oversee the management of the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Mandir in Ayodhya, shared images of priests performing Ramlalla Sarkar’s Divya Abhisheka at the temple. On this day, the trust also shared images of Lord Rama’s Divya Shringar.

PM Modi also posted on his X handle to extend his greetings for the festival. Modi posted, “Infinite best wishes to my family members across the country on the occasion of Lord Shri Ram’s birth anniversary, Ram Navami! On this auspicious occasion, my heart is overwhelmed and fulfilled. It is the supreme grace of Shri Ram that this year, along with millions of my countrymen, I became a witness to the Pran-Pratishtha in Ayodhya. The memories of that moment of Avadhpuri still pulsate in my mind with the same energy.”

He further added, “This is the first Ram Navami when our Ram Lalla has been enthroned in the grand and divine Ram temple of Ayodhya. Today, Ayodhya is in unparalleled joy in this celebration of Ram Navami. After waiting for five centuries, today we have got the privilege of celebrating this Ram Navami in Ayodhya in this manner. This is the fruit of so many years of hard penance, sacrifice and sacrifice of the countrymen.”

  • Devotees in Ayodhya: In Ayodhya, worshipers bathed in the holy waters of the Saryu River before heading to the Ram temple. At night, devotees began to gather at the ghats. At 3:30 am, the “Darshan” began at Ram Temple.
  • Consecration of Ram idol: Since the Ram idol at the new temple was consecrated on January 22, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated it, this was the first Ram Navami celebration.

  • Security arrangements in Ayodhya: According to IG (Ayodhya Range), Praveen Kumar, arrangements have been made for devotees in terms of security.
  • The science behind Surya Tilak: The Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust said scientists from the Central Building Research Institute (CBRI), Roorkee, have calculated the timings of Surya Tilak based on the movement of the Sun. “The ‘Surya Abhishek’ of Ram Lalla will be performed using an optomechanical system with high-quality mirrors and lenses,” the trust said.
  • PM Narendra Modi’s suggestion: On October 23, 2022, PM Modi proposed to the members of the trust that the sanctum-sanctorum of the Ram Mandir be built so that sunlight falls directly on the idol of Ram Lalla on Ram Navami, akin to the Konark Sun Temple in Odisha. This suggestion was made during his visit to Ayodhya for the Deepotsav celebration.
