Kangana Ranaut takes a dig at Urmila Matondkar – Makes derogatory remarks

Share

Nothing you write or say on the Internet never wipes off. Sure, you can delete it but whe

n you are a public figure there is no such thing as ‘Delete’.

Kangana lashes out on trolls

Hours after Kangana Ranaut was made a BJP candidate to contest Lok Sabha elections from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district, the actress got severely trolled on X. One of the X users named Vikram made a suggestive joke under the actress’s post regarding her contesting elections from Mandi. Kangana got furious and in response to his sleezy comment wrote, “If a young man gets ticket his ideology is attacked if a young woman gets ticket her sexuality is attacked. Strange !! Also congress people are sexualizing a small town’s name. Mandi is being used in sexual context every where, just because it has a young woman candidate, shame on congress people for displaying sexist tendencies.”

Her post blew up gaining 1.2 million views. While some netizens supported her through the entire sexism bit, others had a good laugh justifying themselves by pointing out that Kangana is in no place to comment on misogyny when she has made remarks on not only Urmila Matondkar but also pop artist Rihanna.

Kangana and her ‘comments’

Kangana in a video is heard saying, “Urmila Matondkar, she is a soft porn star. I know it’s very blatant, but I want to ask you… she is not known for her acting for sure, what is she known for, for doing soft porn, right?” “If she can get a ticket (for a political party), why won’t I get a ticket?”

In 2021, she also brought Rihanna down on the same context, the latter of which she took a stand for farmers protesting in Punjab. She went on to call Sikh-Canadian politician Jagmeet Singh Jimmy Dhaliwal, a “Terrorist” and Rihanna a “porn singer”.

Supriya Shrinate’s Instagram post

On Monday, a questionable post of Kangana’s was seen on Supriya Shrinate’s Instagram. Later that day, Supriya on X claimed that the post on Instagram was not done by her but by someone who had her password. She also claimed that there was a parody account on X that was misusing her name.

The post on Supriya’s handle was a picture of Kangana Ranaut with a derogatory caption. Kangana lashes out at the Congress leader, saying that people should “refrain from using sex workers’ challenging lives or circumstances as some kind of abuse or slur”.

NCW’s reaction

On Shrinate’s post, National Commission for Women (NCW) chief Rekha Sharma said, “It is very unfortunate that a woman is using such derogatory language against another woman. NCW has taken it very seriously. We have written to the Election Commission to take stringent action against the party and the leader.”

The same mistake, twice?

As HS Ahir, another Congress leader makes a very derogatory comment on Ranaut, says the same thing that someone has hacked into their account.

The NCW chief pointed this out as well and did not buy into it. She says both of them owe an apology to Ranaut.

Today Ranaut has a lot of sympathisers but unwittingly she has become a cautionary tale who should realise what to say and write when, and not create a foot-in-the-mouth situation every time.
