In a heartwarming turn of events during his visit to Ayodhya, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made an unexpected stopover at the residence of Meera, the 10th-crore beneficiary of the Ujjwala scheme. This surprise visit took place near the Lata Mangeshkar Chowk, where Modi expressed his delight at the warm welcome and the opportunity to interact with Meera’s family.

Modi, who was in Ayodhya to inaugurate various developmental projects, including an airport and a revamped train station, spontaneously decided to visit the Ujjwala beneficiary’s house. The Ujjwala scheme, initiated in May 2016, aims to provide LPG connections to women from below poverty line (BPL) families.

During the impromptu visit, the Prime Minister enjoyed a cup of tea at Meera’s house and shared a light moment by remarking, “The tea is good but it is a little too sweet.” He inquired about the well-being of Meera’s family and the residents of the colony.

Meera, expressing her joy, informed the Prime Minister that she had received free gas connections and improved accommodation. She shared the positive impact of the Ujjwala scheme on her life, stating, “Earlier, I had a kutcha house, but now it has become pucca.” Her words reflected the tangible changes brought about by the scheme.

Later, addressing a rally in Ayodhya, Modi highlighted the significance of the Ujjwala Yojana, emphasizing its transformative impact on the lives of millions of women across the country. He mentioned that despite initial skepticism, the scheme has proven to be a game-changer.

The Uttar Pradesh government issued a statement, clarifying that the Prime Minister’s visit to the Ujjwala beneficiary’s house was unplanned and not scheduled in advance. This unexpected visit showcased Modi’s connect with the grassroots and brought attention to the success of the Ujjwala scheme in uplifting the lives of women from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

During the visit, Modi took a moment to interact with local children, signing autographs and capturing a selfie with them. This gesture further demonstrated his accessibility and popularity among the people.

The heartwarming visit left a lasting impression on the residents of the colony near Lata Mangeshkar Chowk, who enthusiastically chanted “Modi-Modi” as the Prime Minister’s cavalcade made an unexpected pause in their neighborhood. This spontaneous interaction not only highlighted Modi’s down-to-earth nature but also shed light on the positive impact of the Ujjwala scheme in empowering women and improving their living conditions.

The Ujjwala Yojana has been instrumental in providing clean cooking fuel to millions of women from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. It has not only improved their health and safety but also enhanced their overall quality of life. The scheme has been successful in reaching its intended beneficiaries and has become a symbol of the government’s commitment to the welfare of its citizens.
