After the surfacing of the post, Manchester United supporters are incensed about the referee’s decision to give Liverpool a late penalty in Sunday’s 2-2 draw.
After Aaron Wan-Bissaka fouled Harvey Elliott, Mo Salah scored from the penalty spot to give Jurgen Klopp’s team ‘an important point’ in the context of the title race.
At Old Trafford, Luis Diaz gave Jurgen Klopp’s team the lead, but Bruno Fernandes tied the score for United after scoring from the halfway line.
Then, in the 67th minute, the young sensation, Kobbie Mainoo scored an incredible goal to give United the lead.
But when Harvey Elliott looked to have been fouled in the box by Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the 84th minute, leading to a penalty, a dispute broke out.
Since Wan-Bissaka appeared to commit to the challenge before Elliott kicked the ball away and hooked his foot under the defender’s leg in slow-motion video, fans have questioned the verdict.
As the video went viral, numerous fans voiced their opinions.
One said: “Literally no contact !! So fuming.”
Another added: “How tf this was a penalty. Harvey Elliot fell onto Wan Bissaka’s leg he didn’t even touch him lmao. LiVARpool at it’s finest.”
A third then put: “I’m still fuming over that Penalty, Harvey Elliott dragged his right leg waiting for a contact from Wan Bissaka… What is the essence of VAR if it can rectify this silly errors?”
Similar to the late penalty that United gave away to Chelsea on Thursday night, another supporter echoed the same view.
They said: ” ‘I have watched this video a million times and also watched the penalty given to Chelsea a million times WTF are these decisions? “
With just one point from Old Trafford, Liverpool continues their pursuit of the Premier League title.
The Reds lead Manchester City by one point and behind Arsenal solely on goal difference.
